“Peace With Others”
Passage: Romans 12:17-20
There are times in our lives when we especially yearn for peace in all areas of our living and being. Most of us already know that this peace comes from God, a gift of His grace. When we have trouble in a relationship, we need to remind ourselves that God works all things together for our good, but we must work to keep our focus centered on Him.
Paul advises us to do what is right in the ways we treat everyone, not to take revenge but rather to endeavor to repay evil with kindness and goodness then let God avenge.
When we leave our hurts in God’s hands, we are open to the stillness we find inside when people around us push our buttons. Down deep within us, we know that we can’t change the words or actions of someone else but with God’s help we can change our response to what is said or done and strive to forgive the offender.
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone Romans 12:18
Prayer: Dear God, Sometimes we are so hurt or angered by the way we have been treated by others that we want to lash out and return hurt for hurt, offense for offense. Help us to remember that you are our strength, Christ is our example, and that you are in charge so we can move on with that peace that comes only from you. With thanks for the way you care for us and give us peace. In His holy name we pray. Amen.
