“Life By The Spirit”
Passage: Galatians 5:22-26
The fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control. Love, joy, peace can be thought of as our relationship to God; patience, kindness, goodness as our relationship to others and faith, gentleness, self-control as our basic posture or attitude in life.
These are not attributes that come to us naturally. The scriptures here in Galatians tell us that when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, He will produce this kind of “fruit” in us. When we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, we receive supernatural help from the Holy Spirit. Jesus tells us in John 14:16, “I will ask the Father and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever.” Because of this help we can become more Christ-like, bare the fruits of the Spirit.
Prayer: Lord, I recognize that it is only through your Holy Spirit that I can bear the fruits of the Spirit. Please help me to be conscious of Your presence this day and every day. Amen
