When was the last time a major change caused an upheaval in your life? If you’re like most of us, there have been a few. What got you through it? Did you fall to pieces and take on a “woe is me” attitude? Or did you move closer to God? Hebrews 10:22 calls us to draw near to God.
What if someone asked for your help with something but you made up an excuse because you just “didn’t feel like doing it?” We’ve all probably done this at some point. But in Hebrews 10:24, we are to consider how we may spur one another toward love and good deeds. To be a Christ-like role model is difficult.
The recent passing of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth has left a deep sense of loss for those on the other side of “the pond.” She was an excellent leader with a strong Christian faith. This faith was a calming influence for her people. She led with a sincere heart, never abandoning her beliefs, always with support and kindness. She was a Christ-like role model. See Hebrews 10:23-24.
As King Charles III begins his reign, Britain and the world wait to see how and what changes will affect the general population. Will he continue to lead by faith as she did? Will he abandon her style of leadership completely? Hopefully, he will read and follow Hebrews 10:25.
How can we be more Christ-like role models? Hebrews 10:22-25 gives us the answer.
Prayer: Father, help us to draw near to You with a sincere heart. Sprinkle our hearts with faith to keep our thoughts cleansed. Open our minds so we may help and encourage others instead of making excuses. Hold us close so our faith will remain strong, as we stray way too easily. Help us to be Your role models! Amen.
