“Angels Announce Good News!”

Marcia Baker

Luke 2:11-12

“Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” was written in 1739 by Charles Wesley and sung to the melody by Felix Mendelssohn. This song speaks of the joyous message the angels delivered to the shepherds watching their flock. “…good news of great joy which will be for all people” the angels announced… This is a message of joy, hope, and God’s love to all people. How do we get to pass this “good news” on to all people? We can start by sharing the good news with our loved ones, through words and actions of hope, joy, and love. Then we move to our next group, neighbors, people we meet each day in our daily movements through our communities.

Have you ever been a recipient or a giver of paying it forward? This is a wonderful act of giving to do randomly throughout the Christmas season. We get to demonstrate God’s love toward all people every single day. Providing food supplies to the food pantries, gift packages for the homeless hanging out in the parks and streets. Praying for those who are experiencing health issues, loneliness, and loss during the Christmas holiday.

Let’s make a commitment for this Christmas to spread the good news of Jesus’ birth that others may open their hearts and accept Him as their Savior. Let’s share the joy of Jesus’ birth.

Prayer: Glorious God our Father, give each of us an opportunity to share the “good news of great joy” of Jesus’ birth, each day. Amen.
