Passage: Psalm 20:4-5
Carol Sue Hutchinson
We celebrate as a community when someone within the community succeeds. The community supports someone who is striving for good and when they are victorious, we jump for joy.
One of the best things that I have experienced in a church is celebrate the joys and accomplishments of the previous year on the first Sunday in January. We would remind people it is coming and then we ask people to share. People remember even the smallest successes, and everyone celebrates all of it. It started the new year off with a foundation of joy that there will be celebrations the next January.
As a community of faith, we celebrate when we have new people come into our community, we celebrate when our children, youth and young adults accomplish new areas of learning and growth. We celebrate staff as they come and go.
This passage says, “We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the Lord grant all your requests.”
Prayer: Thank you for being a God of celebrations. Help us to always see the joy in our work for You. Amen
