“Song of Praise”
Carol Sue Hutchinson
Our salvation brings us great joy. This is a wonderful teaching in the Old Testament looking forward to the day of our salvation in Christ. They understood what hope and joy were to come when the Messiah comes. They are looking forward to that time when we can be made right with God.
In our house getting ready for Christmas is a very joy-filled time. For days, as we unpack treasures from years past and recall the memories that the decorations and ornaments bring, we are filled with joy. For Jewish people, they were looking forward to what was to come. The celebration of the salvation that the Messiah would bring.
How do we prepare for the celebration of Christ’s birth? The scripture says, “I will trust and not be afraid” why? “The Lord, is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation.” We have salvation and we know the joy and strength of life in Christ. We look forward to the celebration and the renewal of our commitment to living life for Christ.
In Nehemiah 8:10 “…Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is my strength.” This is a season for joy and praise. As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ, we are reminded that Christ brought our salvation and with that great joy.
Prayer: During this time of reflection, remind us that with the birth of Christ came salvation and great joy. Amen.
