Flag Retirement Ceremony
The United States Code stipulates, "When a U.S. flag is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, it should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning." Beymer Trailcraft Troop 123 and Pack 123 helped to honor the collected flags. The Scouts gathered at the Scout House to conduct a ceremony with dignity and respect for the flags no longer serviceable.
A flag ceases to be a flag when it is cut into pieces, but it is done in a structured manner with scissors or shears. The blue star field is kept intact as it represents the union of the fifty states. The blazing fire was tended so the flags could be incinerated and the Scouts maintained a vigil over the fire until all traces of flag remnants were destroyed.
2021 is right around the corner, so mark your calendars for 1/12/2021. Bible 101 will begin at 7pm via ZOOM. A small group of participants is a good beginning into gaining a deeper faith. You might be surprised at how much you already know and can share with this group as you journey to build a strong foundation. It is an opportunity to unlock information and understanding, reflect on what the Word reveals and work towards applying scripture in your own life. Carol Sue Hutchinson will be the facilitator for this study. Please contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org 863-670-1855 or contact the church office email@example.com 863-294-3186.
Happy Birthday, Pastor Rob
WE DID IT!!! The birthday card shower for Pastor Rob was a big surprise. Cards came by mail, snuck in by a pretense visit to the office, stuffed in the giving box and were handed off in the parking lot.
You don't often see Pastor Rob at a loss for words, yet that's exactly how he described his feeling. He thought we were having a small pizza party to celebrate his birthday, but as he opened the boxes, something looked a little odd. Instead of pizza, the boxes were filled with all kinds and sizes of birthday cards. Pastor Rob is very thankful for the people he has been blessed to have in his life.
In addition, the Kindergartners decorated him an incredibly cute banner. Thank you everyone for helping to make this a fun surprise.
