Send Me, Lord!

Carla Moore

Matthew 10:5-12

Jesus gathered his disciples together and told them they were going on a mission for God. Twelve ordinary men were invited to change lives in the name of Jesus. These men who were students (disciples) are now the messengers and teachers (apostles), sent with specific instructions. Jesus told them where to go, what to do, what to say and let them know God would provide. These twelve were handpicked by Jesus and chosen for a purpose. He sent them with the Gospel they had heard and believed, granting them the privilege of sharing it.

A poem, Christ Has No Body, written by Teresa of Avila (1515-1582), says, “…yours are the feet with which he walks to do good, yours are the hands which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now but yours, …”

God works through people to deliver His message. We must remember what Jesus did for us on the cross and ask what the Lord wants us to do. He wants to work through us to reach out to family, friends, neighbors, and strangers, letting them know His story. Are you ready to tell Him – send me, Lord!

Prayer: Father, please help me learn how to keep loving, sharing, and proclaiming your grace and goodness. Amen.
