Once completed the pillowcases are taken to a drop off site, the organization delivers them to hospitals. Children can choose their own playful pillowcase. This simple thing reminds them they are not defined by their illness.
Sewing for a Purpose
For six years this group has met once a month to sew pillowcases. Why? They are part of a group with over 120 chapters worldwide called Ryan’s Case for Smiles. It is a volunteer organization solely dedicated to helping sick children cope with the stress of their illnesses and injuries.
Once completed, the pillowcases are taken to a drop-off site and the organization delivers them to hospitals. Children can choose their own playful pillowcases. This simple thing reminds them they are not defined by their illness.

This past Tuesday the group cut, sewed and ironed 20 pillowcases for donation. The goal is to help children with cancer and life-changing illnesses feel better so they can heal better. It is easy to see why the organization as a whole has delivered more than 2 Million pillowcases and counting.
